Healthcare and pharmaceuticals

The healthcare system today is characterized by independent, self-financed (mixed financing) healthcare institutions that provide services both on a paid basis and within the framework of the state order. Today, 129 medical institutions and about 40 companies are engaged in the import and production of medicines in Armenia. The pharmaceutical sector is one of the strategic sectors of economic growth in Armenia due to its potential to increase exports and investment attractiveness. Over the last ten years, the volume of products in Armenia's pharmaceutical sector has increased, reaching 12 million USD. More than half of the pharmaceutical industry's products are exported, and the continued growth of the industry is supported by rising incomes, government policies, and the implementation of international standards.
