Agriculture

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of Armenia's economy, providing about 12% of GDP. About 317,000 farms produce 97% of gross agricultural product, each with 1.48 hectares of land. 24.3% of the employed in the Republic of Armenia are engaged in the agricultural sector. One of the landmark documents of the agrarian policy is the strategy of the main directions ensuring the economic development of the RA agrarian sector for 2020-2030, approved by Government Decree No. 1886-L of December 19, 2019. A vision for the next ten years is to have a sustainable, innovative, highly productive agriculture that takes care of natural resources and is in harmony with the environment, creates environmentally friendly products, and guarantees the well-being of the people living in the village.
